Today I am joining Louis for his
ENDANGERED SPECIES CHALLENGE
I want to talk Buttie Pillars
Not just any Buttie Pillar
This is the
Ornithoptera Alexandrae
Queen Alexandra Birdwing
This rarest and biggest Buttie Pillar
only found in
a small area within the Popendeta Valley,
deep within the rainforest of Papau New Guinea.
To own a real one you need a special licence
otherwise its go straight to the Dog House
and
a fine of about 87 million Milky Bones
These ones are replicas but true to the real Buttie Pillars
Mrs Alexandra is the brown one on the left
Mr Alexandre is the pretty coloured one
To see a real one you can go to the Natural History Museum
where the original one is….its a bit moth eaten…..
well, they were so big floating around high in the tree canopy
that the only way the explorers could capture on was to us an
old blunderbuss to shoot them down.
The one in the Museum is the original one with the shot holes
Mr Rothschild donated all his samples to the Museum
I'm pleased to say that now the peeps are more concerned
with preserving these majestic Butties
They are
Truly the Regent Queen of all Buttie Pillars
Loves and licky kisses
Princess Leah
