Spitbank Fort

Yes, there really is a place called Spitbank Fort
and that's where the peeps went…….

They starting building it in 1860
to defend Portsmouth harbour from Napoleon
no, not that one, his nephew, Louis Napoleon
butt, with all the budget cuts etc, the messing about politicians do
the threat had long gone before it was finished
There was never a shot fired in anger from it!

And I bet it did feel like Alcatraz to the 260 soldiers stationed
on it for 6 months at a time!!!
(they chose peeps that couldn't swim
to stop them swimming back to shore!)

There were hooks everywhere on the walls
for them to hang their hammocks from
Every space was used

Luckily, Mum and Dad's room was more luxurious

(although Mum could have made the bed before taking photo!)

And
Dad was very happy to find a guitar
which he immediately set about tuning

And
Mum was happy to find the bottle of champagne,
which she immediately set about drinking!

And look what she saw from her window…..
one of Reilly and Denny's ships

(hope you're feeling a bit better Reilly)

Talking of boats…..
Mum and Dad sailed past this on their way to the Fort

It's taking part in the America's Cup Race this year
You saw it here first pups!

AND…..
All this took place WITHOUT me!!!!

But don't worry…I did get to share this….

Mum's cake from work….A PUG Burfday cake!
They nose her so well don't they, hehe.

Loves and licky kisses

  6. The mama said if we win the euromillion tomorrow then she will buy this place (my dad is fine with that idea, he knows that there no postman can come with shoe boxes). And if I live there I will invite you and you can eat as much cakes as you want and we cool our feet in that bottled bubble water. ha! I only have to ponder about the right numbers...

  11. Hi Leah
Well the accommodations there on Spitbank Fort are a LOT nicer than those on Alcatraz. Pretty cool getaway. But it doesn't look like there is much to do there but THINK, DRINK and SiNG.

  12. Well Leah, it had to be somewhere special, to be worth abandoning a Princess for, and I guess that fort is a pretty special place (though it would be more so were dogs allowed, of course).
    Toodle pip!
