I went to see my Aunty Peggy (My Mum's Mum)
She lives close to the big red castle...
There it is look, we're nearly there!
Now my darling Chester's Mom works in a place like Aunty Peggy lives
and she says how much good pups can do for peeps with dementia
so my peeps ignored the 'no dogs rule'
and snuck me in to see Aunty Peggy
Hiya Aunty Peggy, remember me ...Princess Leah |
Aunty Peggy was sad when we first arrived
but Mum put me on the bed beside her
and I licked her hand
That was it!!!!!
We became firm friends and Aunty Peggy started smiling
We even went to have tea and CAKE in the dining room
I'm so glad you were able to see Aunt Peggy. I am sure it did her a world of good to spend time with you. I have an Aunt with dementia, too, and it is so sad to see her sometimes. Maybe I will break the rules, too, and bring Ruby to see her.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up for pets in nursing homes! You did a good job, princess Leah.
ReplyDeleteHugs and love from Terrierhausen
Leah we 100% agree with your Mum. Pets are GOOD for everybuddy!
ReplyDeleteMy Gma was in a memory facility too. That facility had a resident dog Copper he was a Basset mix and they had a kitty, named Remi who lived full time in the memory unit. Remi loved sleeping on beds and sitting with the residents on the couch in the day room No matter the severity of their memory THEY ALL SMILED GREAT BIG SMILES WHEN THEY SAW REMI. Your princess manners were quite evident. Santa was watching and your stocking will be fulllllllll
Hugs madi your bfff
that was a super wonderful idea to break that rules... and I'm sure Santa saw how much joy you brought to your aunty and he will add 87 toys more for ya.
ReplyDeleteWe agree that good pets should be allowed to visit everyone! Aunt Peggy seems really nice if she gives out cake.

We're so glad you sneaked in to see your Aunty Peggy and made a "little miracle" happen! Ghostwriter says to pass it on and tell all our blogger friends to visit their local nursing homes. Maybe Aunty Peggy's place should change the rules a bit and invite therapy animals to visit too. Have a Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSanta understands breaking rules for a good reason, and this was definitely a good reason!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you have to break rules....'specially the silly ones. We know how much your visit meant to Auntie Peggy. We have a friend who goes to respite in one of those places, and they bring in a dog for him....they have the best time and are buddies. We hope you get to visit Auntie Peggy again soon.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Just look how much pleasure you brought Auntie Peggy. We think if they had a dog living there the residents would be much happier.

Oh Leah you did a great thing, and to heck with those rules, I am sure it put a smile on Auntie Peggy's face and your momma's face so that is all that matters, what a sweetie you are.

That is AWESOME!!!! Sometimes breaking the rules is the perfect thing to do! I'll bet Santa approves whole-heartedly! After all - you made your Auntie Peggy SMILE and that's one of the most important things EVER!!! Way to go, Princess Leah!!!

I love this post! It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Dogs are the best medicine.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,

That place where your Aunty Peggy lives needs to learn from your visit all the good pups can do for their residents. Our Dad's sister suffers from dementia too, very sad too as she is not that old. She is probably going to have to go to a special place soon too as her care has become quite difficult. Makes us all sad at the holiday time:( We hope you get to see your Aunty Peggy again soon.

What a wonderful way to cheer Aunt Peggy up!! We don't understand why some places do not allow us to visit when we can bring so much happiness!
ReplyDeleteSmileys!

That is definitely worth breaking the rules. You would cheer up anyone and I'm sure that Aunt Peggy loves you very much. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful thing you did breaking the rules and bringing a smile to Aunty Peggy. You are such a sweet girl Leah

Why Oh Why would they have such a silly rule like that. Why everybody knows we dogs were just made especially to cheer humans and be their companions and give thems all the love we have. Why all of the care facilities around us allow me to go in and some even have their own dog that checks in on all the residents each day.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas

There are some rules that are just made to be broken, and I am sure that you breaking that silly rule absolutely made you're Aunt Peggy's whole day!
ReplyDeletePups DO help people with dementia for sure. We used to bring Dakota to see my father-in-law when he was in a nursing home. They are so soothing xoxo DakotasDen

Glad you had a nice visit with your Aunt Peggy. I'm glad you were able to bring a smile to her face. I wish more places allowed dogs. Sometimes just seeing or petting a dog can make someone's mood go from sad to happy in an instant. Happy Holidays to you!!!

Sid.
